The Game, Priorities at Election Time?

It is amazing that we will now receive a quarter of a million dollars, $250,000, from the State of Connecticut to fund a sidewalk that has been turned down more than once by boards and the general public.

With all due respect to Senator DeLuca and Governor Rowland, because they can only make judgments with the information that is made available to them, I do find it hard to believe that the town Selectman would request more sidewalks when they can't take care of what they currently have.

picture of town walk way The legislators however are up to the usual plundering of the till at election time and it is their part of government that should be able to keep in check the special town interest and weigh what is best for our State.

Our selectman's office has only added to that fray by requesting funding for an extremely expensive walkway when one was offered to be put on the other side of the road for nothing!

How can anyone justify this kind of expense by the First Selectman when those dollars could be better used for our own Woodbury and Bethlehem school children in the areas of instruction, supplies and new technologies equipment?

The above $250,000 expenditure shows the lack of leadership we have in our own town and the total inability of our selectman to put our tax dollars where they are need to be placed in this changing and difficult world.

Last but not least we are adding to what is already wrong with our local government by not having any priorities and not caring about what really needs to be done first!!!
